Diamond Certification: GIA vs IGI

Diamond certification provides an independent evaluation of a diamond’s quality and characteristics.

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is widely recognized for strict grading standards, and being a strong authority in the market particularly for natural diamonds. IGI (International Gemological Institute) is commonly used for lab-grown diamonds and offers detailed grading reports.  They are credited with being the first company to grade lab-grown diamonds starting in 2005.

Both laboratories assess diamonds using standardized criteria, allowing buyers to compare stones confidently when certification is provided.
